About Emily &
The Brightway Company
Independent aged care guidance from someone who knows it —
and knows exactly how to help.
Hi, I’m Emily — the founder of The Brightway Company.
I’m a registered nurse with nearly 20 years of experience across intensive care, aged care, and community health in Australia and overseas. I started Brightway to help older Australians and their families feel confident, informed, and supported as they navigate the aged care system — without pressure or confusion.
Over the years, I’ve seen how confusing, frustrating, and emotionally exhausting aged care can be — not just for older people, but for their families, too. In my role as an aged care assessor, I often saw people being handed generic information or care plans that seemed to benefit the provider more than the person receiving care. That never sat right with me.
That’s why I built something different: independent, unbiased guidance that puts people — not providers — first.
My Role
I don’t provide aged care services — and that’s exactly the point.
Think of me like a wedding planner for aged care: I don’t do the catering or take the photos, but I know how all the pieces fit together, and I make sure everything works for you.
Everyone’s needs are different, but some of the ways I often help include:
· Understand how the aged care system works
· Navigate My Aged Care and prepare for assessments
· Make the most of Home Care Packages
· Compare providers and know what to ask
· Understand fees, contracts, and care options
· Build a care plan that matches your needs and goals
Because I’m completely independent, I don’t refer into a set list of services or recommend providers based on availability alone. My only priority is helping you make informed decisions — with no pressure, no sales, and no hidden agenda.
My Background
Registered Nurse (with postgraduate training in ICU)
Master of Public Health
Aged Care Assessor (RAS and ACAS/ACAT experience)
International experience in Australia, the UK, and Canada
My time working overseas taught me that good aged care is never one-size-fits-all — it’s about choice, dignity, and feeling in control.
What I Care About Most
Supporting people to make informed, empowered decisions
Making the system feel less overwhelming
Balancing safety with independence
Giving families space to breathe and a plan to move forward
I’m here to listen, explain, and support — without pushing you toward a particular service or outcome.
