3 Tips for Finding a Home Care Provider
The process of finding a Home Care Package provider can be daunting and overwhelming (a theme is definitely growing here…..). Where to even start?! Word of mouth is a great place to start. If someone you know uses a company they are happy with, start there.
Alternatively, My Aged Care has a ‘find a provider’ feature available. You can search in your local area and all available providers in your area will be listed. Note here- the list can be extensive and overwhelming. Start with 3. Interview them and hopefully one will impress.

Asking the right questions before signing an agreement can make all the difference to a successful future. Here are three key things to look for:
1. Transparency with Fees & Inclusions
Some providers charge higher admin fees or keep services vague. Make sure you receive a full breakdown of costs, service hours, and what's included so you can make a truly informed choice. Cheaper isn’t always best so ask lots of questions and find out if cheaper=higher service costs or other hidden chargers.
Ask the provider for a draft budget so you can compare apples with apples and actually see what your budget will look like. This is will show any hidden charges also.
2. Flexibility & Personalisation
Every person’s needs are different. A good provider will work with you to tailor supports — not just offer a cookie-cutter approach. Ask how they adjust services as your needs change, outside of the annual review of care plans, care agreements and budget review. A good provider will change your services when needed, not just annually when your annual review is due.
3. Clear Communication & Ongoing Support
Look for providers who explain things clearly, respond promptly, and offer regular reviews of your care plan. You should feel supported, not confused.
